Robbery suspect now charged with aggravated assault
A man initially arrested last week for armed robbery is now facing an additional felony aggravated assault charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
24-year-old Taivion James Rosser used a weapon, in this case a handgun, which could have resulted in bodily injury to the victim.
Rosser is accused of entering the Exxon Store on Rockmart Road back on October 6, where he pulled out the gun and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim.
Woman charged with aggravated animal cruelty
A 37-year-old Rome woman was jailed Tuesday on two felony warrants charging her with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrants:
Ericka Dawn Otwell failed to provide adequate food, water, and veterinary care for two dogs at her Barker Road home.
A large-sized brown dog was being kept in an undersized wire kennel and could not completely stand up in it.
A medium-sized blonde dog was being kept in a chain link fence, approximately 5’ x 10’, and showed signs of malnourishment.
Woman accused of stealing Nissan Altima
A Rome woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
43-year-old Melinda Tina Long took a Nissan Altima valued at $1,500 from a residence on Fosters Mill Road on Sunday.
Man charged with forgery
A 40-year-old Montgomery, Alabama man is accused of cashing a forged check.
According to an arrest warrant at the Floyd County Jail:
Andrey Caldwell cashed the check for $2,245.92 at a bank on North Second Avenue in Rome in March of this year.
Caldwell is charged with a felony count of 3rd-degree forgery.
Report: Woman found with marijuana at jail
A Lindale woman is accused of having marijuana in the booking area of the Floyd County Jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Michelle Leigh Morris was originally arrested at a location on Cedartown Highway after a plastic bag of marijuana was discovered underneath her bra strap.
She is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and a felony count of crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs.
Rome man wanted for aggravated assault in Tennessee
A 32-year-old Rome man is facing a felony fugitive from justice charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Benito Tapia-Villanueva has an active warrant for his arrest on an aggravated assault charge in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
Florida man wanted in Alabama on theft charge
A man from Panama City Beach, Florida was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on a probation violation and a felony fugitive from justice charge.
According to jail records:
48-year-old Stephen Brent Cobb was wanted for an active warrant in Cherokee County, Alabama for theft of property.
