Woman accused of hitting man in the head with a wrench
A 43-year-old Rome woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly threw a wrench at a man’s head at her Hardy Avenue home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
The victim sustained a small cut to his head after being struck by the wrench.
Misty Dawn Lopez-Malpica is charged with aggravated assault.
Man charged with kidnapping, battery
A Garden Lakes man is facing a kidnapping charge following an incident at his Elliott Drive home Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
58-year-old Christopher Garland Barnett pulled a 55-year-old woman into his home and then punched her in the face.
Barnett is additionally charged with battery and a parole violation.
Man accused of strangling woman in front of juveniles
An Armuchee man was arrested Sunday at his Turkey Mountain Road home on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old James Edward Ward III put his hands around a woman’s throat and strangled her.
The incident occurred in front of four juveniles resulting in additional charges of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Teen charged with fleeing, theft by taking a motor vehicle
A Rome teen is accused of fleeing from authorities in a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning
According to Floyd County Jail records:
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a Jeep driven by 18-year-old Jarmarcus Omarion Lackey.
The Georgia State Patrol picked up the chase on Turner McCall Boulevard at Riverside Drive.
Lackey turned onto multiple roads in an attempt to flee before eventually running on foot.
He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by taking a motor vehicle, felony and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement, aggressive driving, reckless driving, running stop signs, running red lights, passing in a no-passing zone, passing on the shoulder of the roadway, failure to maintain a lane, open container, driving without a license, and a headlight violation.
Report: Woman led police on a chase into Bartow County
A 22-year-old Rome woman was jailed on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by Jameana Raquel Batie was traveling 50 miles per hour in the inside lane of Highway 411, which is a 65-mile-per-hour zone.
When police tried to stop Batie, she accelerated to 20 miles an hour above the speed limit and entered Bartow County.
Batie is also charged with impeding the flow of traffic, driving under the influence of marijuana, and having no insurance.
West Rome woman charged with fleeing or attempting to elude
A Rome woman is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit Saturday in West Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
An attempted traffic stop on Lavender Drive at Brookwood Drive for improper use of a horn started the chase.
23-year-old Javaya T. Frazier is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, reckless driving, running a stop sign, failure to maintain a lane, improper lane change, following too closely, and driving on the wrong side of the road..
Woman accused of fleeing from police
A 65-year-old Rome woman was arrested at Scenic Road and Little Texas Valley Road Saturday on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Elizabeth Anne Bazemore Doane failed to stop when police attempted to pull over her vehicle.
She is additionally charged with failure to maintain a lane and DUI.
Man charged with possession of a controlled substance
A Kingston man was jailed Sunday on a felony count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
28-year-old Sebastian Duane Barker was found in possession of suspected cocaine while at a location on Shorter Avenue.
