Man accused of neglecting disabled woman
A 60-year-old Rome man has been charged with neglect of a disabled or elderly person, exploitation of the disabled or elderly, theft by taking, and 3rd-degree forgery.
According to an arrest warrant:
Kenneth Dwayne Bailey was supposed to be caring for a 71-year-old woman, who had been left disabled following a stroke.
He denied the woman medical care and failed to feed her.
When the victim was found by her family, she had to be transported to the hospital.
The victim had accumulated wounds to her body from being in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
Bailey was also signing checks in his name using the victim’s account, stealing more than $3,000.
Man arrested following pursuit
A 40-year-old Cartersville man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly failed to stop for law enforcement officers who were directing traffic at a road check.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jimar Antion Brown drove at 103 miles per hour while fleeing on the wet roadway, traveling into the oncoming lane while attempting to turn onto Norton Road from Highway 411.
Once stopped, Brown climbed into the back seat and claimed he was not the driver.
Georgia State Troopers determined that Brown fled because he was driving with a suspended license.
Suspected methamphetamine was also found in the vehicle.
Brown is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, failure to obey authorized persons directing traffic, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, speeding, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, improper turn, obstruction, driving with a suspended license, and possession of meth.
A passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Candie Rene Petty, was charged with methamphetamine.
Man accused of making threat
A Rome man was arrested Friday at his Wadsworth Street residence on a felony charge of terroristic threats and acts.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
21-year-old Joshua Alexander Hiram threatened to kill the victim.
The threat was heard by Floyd County 911 dispatch.
Man facing drug charge
A Rome man was arrested on Calhoun Road at the connector Thursday on a felony count of possession of a controlled substance.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
60-year old Jerry Paul Claypool was driving without a license and it was suspected that he was under the influence of oxycodone.
A search turned up four pills, identified as a Schedule II controlled substance, that was not prescribed to Claypool, who was additionally charged with DUI, possession of drugs not in the original container, driving without a license, and a probation violation.
