Report: Man used stolen credit card to buy an Xbox and a stuffed panda bear
A 55-year-old Rome man was arrested Tuesday at his Summer Stone Drive apartment on charges of financial transaction card theft, theft of lost or mislaid property, and theft by deception.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:
Jerome Jackson took the victim’s wallet at the YMCA on East Second Avenue.
He then used the victim’s American Express card to purchase an Xbox and accessories, a large stuffed panda bear, and chocolates at the East Rome Walmart.
Jackson also made a purchase of just over $10 at the Armuchee Quick Stop.
He admitted to selling the Xbox at a local pawn shop, according to the report.
Woman arrested following wreck in Shannon
A Shannon woman is facing charges after being involved in a wreck at Highway 53 and Burlington Road Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Kendra Delyn Bishop appeared to have a loss of balance, her speech was slurred and she smelled of alcohol.
After she was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance, Bishop resisted, kicked an officer, and pulled away as she was being escorted.
She is charged with felony obstruction of officers, DUI, and open container.
Search warrant leads to drug arrest
The execution of a search warrant at a home on Olmstead Street Tuesday ended with the arrest of a Rome man on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Vincal Owens was found with crack cocaine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, digital scales, and packaging materials.
Owens is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of pills not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.
19-year-old charged with cocaine possession
A Rome teen has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with possession of cocaine.
According to the warrant:
A search warrant was executed on a 2006 Mazda back on January 26.
A wallet was located inside the vehicle that contained a Social Security Card and other cards with identification on them belonging to 19-year-old Katelin Delynn Simpson.
A small bag containing suspected cocaine was also inside the wallet.
