-Staff reports-
Floyd County Police are teaming up with Blood Assurance for a blood drive next week.
On October 28, you can donate blood at the Floyd County Police Department, located at the former Glenwood School site off of Old Dalton Road, from 8 a.m. until noon
“They’ll be bringing the bus to the station,” said FCPD Public Information Officer Mike Bell. “They have put together a flyer that has a QR code, so you can do some of your registration questionnaire before you actually get there.”
Blood Assurance is the sole provider of blood and blood products to both Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and Advent Health Redmond. So, your donations go to save lives locally.
“With the cooler weather, traffic patterns, and the changing seasons, and then wildlife is something for everybody to be aware of right now,” Bell noted. “We’re already seeing an uptick in vehicle versus deer collisions.”
Those who donate blood will receive a Blood Assurance “Game Changers” t-shirt.
It’s important for donors to eat a good meal, avoid energy drinks, drink extra water, and bring their ID.
We have posted a QR code to register, or you can get more information on the Floyd County Police Facebook page.
