The Rome City Commission has approved a Special Use Permit for an Independent Sober Living Home with peer support at 4 East 9th Street.
The site is already being used as an independent living home, according to applicant Okista Tory.
“So far, as I said, there have been no problems at all,” she said. “No problems with trash. No problems with safety. Everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Simply put, these people have experienced misfortune. We have a problem in Floyd County with homelessness, and we have been helping people get somewhere to live. Right now, we have ten there. We did have 14, but four have gone on to public housing and have reunited with their families.”
Also on Monday, the commission approved a rezoning request and special use permit for a manufactured home at 20 Ford Street, and a rezoning request from Multi-family to Suburban Residential for 63 Old Lindale Road.
