Rome Emperors Baseball will return to AdventHealth Stadium next year.
The Floyd County Commission has approved a Single Season Use Agreement for AdventHealth Stadium with Diamond Baseball Holdings, LLC.
“No budget changes are needed, with the exact terms as 2026,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. “It also has some extra maintenance explanations as to each party’s responsibilities.”
Also on Tuesday, the commission awarded a contract to Brooks Construction for the Law Enforcement Center Phase 1 construction.
The contract requires a budget increase of $231,380 in the 2017 special-purpose, local option sales tax account.
The Floyd County Commission approved a series of investments in public safety, infrastructure and community services during its Tuesday, September 8 meeting.
“These actions reflect the Commission’s continued focus on public safety, reliable infrastructure and quality-of-life services,” Commission Chair Rhonda Wallace said. “By using SPLOST funds and available departmental resources, we are addressing identified needs while supporting the programs that serve Floyd County residents each day,”
The Commission approved several items using SPLOST funds, including:
- $11,410 in defensive tactics equipment for the Police Department from 2017 SPLOST
- $186,400 for the purchase of an asphalt roller for Public Works from 2023 SPLOST
- $131,820 for the purchase of two Ford F-350 crew-cab trucks for Public Works from 2023 SPLOST
Commissioners approved the Water Department’s $19,185 purchase of a 2025 Nissan Kicks from Prater Ford. This vehicle was purchased using the savings from other capital and equipment items, along with insurance reimbursement funds.
Commissioners also approved several Parks and Recreation partnerships with Georgia Power, Chick-fil-A, Academy Sports, and Moody Heating and Air Conditioning.
The Commission also conducted the first reading for the rezoning of 7050 Cave Spring Road SW in Cave Spring. The applicant is requesting a change from Suburban Residential to Agricultural Residential. County staff and the Planning Commission have both recommended approval for the request. The second hearing and vote will be conducted at the next commission meeting on Sept. 22.
A proclamation was also presented during the meeting to Dr. Vickie Galloway, program director of the Physician Associate Program at Berry College, in recognition of National Physician Associate (PA) Week.
