Norfolk Southern will be replacing track this week and conducting maintenance on Glenn Milner Boulevard between Second Avenue and the Rome News-Tribune.
Second Avenue will not close, but traffic will see restrictions on Glenn Milner Blvd. The intersection of Glenn Milner and Eighth Avenue will close completely on Friday and remain closed until crews pave it on September 14.
A lane shift will begin Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 7 a.m. on Glenn Milner Blvd. The inside lanes nearest the track will be closed to protect track crews and prevent damage to motorists. The outer lanes in both directions will be open.
On Thursday, September 10, crews will close the intersections of Sixth and Eighth Avenues for repairs. Sixth Avenue is expected to be open before the weekend and will be the detour around Eighth Avenue.
The tracks on Spider Webb Drive will be closed from September 14 until September 16, 2026.
