Enterprise Corner is now GRAD certified.
Enterprise Corner is a 200-acre industrial site off of Highway 411 and Bass Ferry Road.
The Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development Certification program establishes a portfolio of pre-qualified industrial sites across Georgia that are “shovel-ready.”
The sites must be approved by a board of public and private economic development professionals based on set criteria and due diligence qualifications.
“This basically means that the site is a preferred site with the Georgia Department of Economic Development,” said Mary Grace Selman with the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority. “It will be announced at the Economic Developers Association annual meeting in Savannah next month, and it’ll also be published in Area Development, which is an economic development magazine. So, that’s very exciting.”
“GRAD certification means that when somebody is at the site, we’ve already done all the homework that they may need to do,” said Rome-Floyd Development Authority Chair Jimmy Byars. “So, they know it’s a clean site, and it’s ready to go.”
“It’s a very involved process,” Selman added. “You have to have letters from all utility companies, dated a certain date. You have to have environmental reports complete. It means that we’ve done all of the due diligence to make it as ready for development as possible.”
The Rome City Commission recently approved a $3.47 million contract to extend water service to the property.
The price tag is being covered by 2023 special purpose, local option sales tax funds.
