Warrant: Woman used deceased person’s information to get auto insurance
A Cedartown woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Monday on a felony warrant charging her with identity theft fraud when using or possessing identifying information concerning a deceased individual.
According to the warrant:
41-year-old Martha Reva Moreno logged into the victim’s auto insurance account and added herself as a secondary policyholder.
She also added a 2020 Nissan Titan truck to the policy between January 2 and January 7 without the prior permission of the deceased person or the executor of the estate.
Man charged with aggravated battery
A homeless man is accused of attacking a woman and ripping her earring out of her ear.
According to Floyd County jail records:
In addition to causing a serious disfigurement to the victim’s earlobe, 46-year-old Michael Wayne Messer Jr. caused several other abrasions to the victim’s face, neck and arms by striking, scratching and biting her.
He also destroyed at least two flower pots at the victim’s home in front of a juvenile.
The incidents occurred on Shorter Avenue and Garden Lakes Boulevard early Tuesday morning.
Messer is charged with battery, aggravated battery, criminal trespass, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
