Man charged with burglary
A North Rome man was arrested early Monday morning on a 1st-degree burglary charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
21-year-old Saqueo Vasquez-Perez broke into an apartment on Smith Street and took wallets, cash, and identification cards.
Teen accused of discharging firearm inside grocery store
A teenager is facing charges in connection with an incident that occurred back on March 24 in which he reportedly discharged a gun inside the Piggly Wiggly on Maple Avenue.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Devon Ramon Jackson put his hand on the firearm and then pulled the trigger, shooting himself in front of other people, including a child, putting them in danger as well.
He had taken the firearm from the owner without her authority.
Jackson is charged with felony theft by taking, reckless conduct, and possession of a pistol by a person under the age of 18.
Man facing theft, drug charges
A Rome man was arrested on multiple charges at the dead end of Pearle Street early Monday morning.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Walter Marquez Kirby admitted to smoking marijuana in the car.
He also threw an opioid on the road, and a stolen Glock 9mm was found during a search of the vehicle.
Kirby is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, abandonment of dangerous drugs, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Woman arrested on drug charges
A Silver Creek woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop on West Fifth Street in Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
34-year-old Mary Elizabeth Studdard was found with methamphetamine, marijuana, and a controlled substance in her purse.
Studdard is charged with possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, driving under the influence of drugs, failure to maintain a lane, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Woman charged with possession of cocaine during traffic stop
A 64-year-old Rome woman has been released on bond following her arrest on Friday on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and driving under the influence of drugs.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by Sherrie Lynn Strickland was pulled over at East 12th Street and East Second Avenue for failure to maintain a lane.
She was then found with five rocks of suspected cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
Strickland is additionally charged with driving without a license and driving with suspended registration.
Cedartown man arrested during traffic stop
A Cedartown man was arrested Friday on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, DUI, and open container.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
34-year-old Salvador Cruz was stopped by police on Cedartown Highway.
Suspected cocaine and a open container of alcohol were located inside the vehicle.
