The Tyson Foods plant on Darlington Drive in closing.
According to the Rome News Tribune:
The facility will be closing this spring.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations at our Rome, Georgia, prepared foods facility,” Tyson Brands Corporate & Brand Communications Vice President Laura Burns said. “We recognize the impact this has on our team members and the Rome community. Supporting our people is our top priority, and we are encouraging impacted team members to apply for other roles within the company while working with state and local partners to provide support during this transition.”
The plant, which makes Nature Valley Granola Bars, was sold by Hillshire Brands to Tyson Foods in 2014.
The facility opened in 1972 under the name Coosa Baking Company.
