Report: Man shot at vehicle, fled from officers
A 70-year-old Kingston man is facing charges of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempting to elude following his arrest on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Randy Wallace McClure shot at another vehicle in the Shannon area, and then refused to stop for police while failing to maintain a lane, and running a stop sign while fleeing.
McClure is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to maintain a lane and a stop sign violation.
Woman accused of selling a vehicle she had leased
A Rome woman is facing multiple charges, including theft by deception, false statements and writings, and three counts of theft by conversion.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
47-year-old Nichele Nekesika Nicole Massey leased a Nissan Pathfinder and then sold the vehicle, failing to disclose there was a lien on it.
The vehicle is valued at $5,500, and Massey sold it for $225.
She also made false statements in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Massey is also charged with a misdemeanor count of obstruction after she was found hiding in a hollowed-out couch and had to be removed by law enforcement.
Report: Man fought with officer during shoplifting arrest
A Rome man arrested on a misdemeanor shoplifting charge is also facing a felony count of obstruction of officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Jackie Levon Smith took more than $245 in merchandise from the Family Dollar on Maple Road.
He then resisted and fought with police, resulting in one of the officers being injured.
Man arrested on drug charges during traffic stop
A Lindale man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop at Highway 293 and Georgia Loop One.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 53-year-old Robert Brian Holt was stopped for no insurance.
The officer smelled marijuana and conducted a probable cause search, which turned up four packages of suspected methamphetamine.
Holt is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Inmate accused of possessing meth
A man from Buford is accused of having drugs while at the Floyd County Prison in May of last year.
According to an arrest warrant:
26-year-old George Steven Tapia returned from a work detail, and during a search, was found with methamphetamine.
He is charged with possession of meth and crossing the guard line with drugs.
Man charged with meth possession
A Silver Creek man is facing drug charges following his arrest on Maple Street at East 20th Street.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
49-year-old Ronald Lee Smith Jr. was found with suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
He is charged with possession of meth and a probation violation.
