Another railroad crossing closing is planned for Thursday.
North Broad Street near the Church of God is scheduled to close at 5 a.m. for railroad maintenance.
“That’s a heavily traveled road by big trucks,” said Chris Fincher with Floyd County Emergency Management. “We will be talking with the Georgia Department of Transportation to try to confirm and be doubly sure that we do not have any permitted trucks that are supposed to be going through. Our hope is that we can use Highway 292, which is Kingston Highway, and we want to utilize the loop that we have.”
You can also use Calhoun Avenue and North Avenue as a detour.
