Man accused of stealing water fountains from Rome City Schools
Another arrest has been made in the reported theft of water fountains from the Rome City School System.
According to an arrest warrant:
56-year-old Alig Darnell Brewster took $18,000 worth of water fountains from the Rome High-Rome Middle School complex on Veterans Memorial Highway on February 7.
He is charged with theft by taking.
55-year-old Maurice Devon Brewster and 33-year-old Avan Guy Davenport were arrested on February 11 and charged with theft by receiving stolen property after the ten water fountains were located at their Wilma Drive home.
Warrant: Man stole close to $36K from consulting firm
A man from Opp, Alabama, was booked into the Floyd County Jail, accused of stealing nearly $36,000 from an Armuchee-based industrial consultant.
According to the arrest warrant:
36-year-old Brandon Edward Watson used a gas card belonging to C&R Compliance, LLC between January 1 and December 11, 2025, to make personal purchases totaling $35,652.63.
He is charged with felony theft by taking.
Man accused of burglarizing convenience store
An arrest has been made in a reported burglary at the Sunoco on Maple Avenue back on February 24.
According to an arrest warrant:
45-year-old Jamian Ryan Clipper of Shannon entered the store and went into an enclosed area portion of the business that is only for authorized employees.
He then took $300 from the cash register.
Then on Friday, Clipper refused to exit his residence on Round Rock Circle as authorities were attempting take him into custody on the arrest warrant.
He then resisted being handcuffed and is charged with misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
Man accused of shoplifting and making fraudulent returns
A West Rome man is facing felony theft by shoplifting charges.
According to the arrest warrants:
37-year-old Joseph Richard Dye Jr. took items from the shelves at Lowe’s on Shorter Avenue and then made fraudulent returns.
He made eight returns between January 5 and January 25, totaling $1,528.
In addition, on January 3, Dye made two fraudulent returns for $502.95.
On January 4, he made four separate fraudulent returns in the amount of $1,133.49.
Then, on January 6, Dye shoplifted from the store and made a fraudulent return for $561.79.
Report: Man fled from police on Highway 293, Calhoun Road
A homeless man is accused of fleeing from police at a high rate of speed over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Jacob Robert Owen drove at speeds of 90 miles per hour in a 50-mile-per-hour zone, while traveling on the wrong side of the road on Highway 293 at the connector.
He also passed other vehicles in a no-passing zone, and eventually got out of his vehicle and fled on foot.
Owen was taken into custody on Calhoun Road and charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
He is also charged with speeding, reckless driving, passing in a no-passing zone, driving on the wrong side of the road, five counts of misdemeanor obstruction of officers, and failure to appear.
Three arrested on Juniper Way
The execution of a search warrant on Juniper Way in Rosemont Park ended with the arrest of three people over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers seized methamphetamine, smoking devices, loaded syringes, and gabapentin pills in the bedroom of the home.
43-year-old Marcus Lamar Williams is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of dangerous drugs.
48-year old Donald Hugh Hembree III and 35-year old Ellen Marie Castro are both charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects after meth and a digital scale were found in a vehicle at the residence.
Woman accused of having drugs at jail
A West Rome woman initially taken into custody for a probation violation is facing additional charges after being found with drugs at the Floyd County Jail.
According to Jail records:
36-year-old Lucinda Ann Davis had methamphetamine and a pipe hidden in her underwear.
She is now charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of drugs past the guard line.
Woman facing drug charges
A West Rome woman was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop on Maple Avenue.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Karla Marie Crook was found with cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, a prescription muscle relaxant that she did not have a prescription for, and an open container of beer.
She is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of dangerous drugs, open container, and a brake light violation.
Man charged with battery, meth possession
A 35-year-old Rome man was arrested at his Burr Drive home over the weekend on charges of battery and possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County jail records:
Williams Wayne Bridges scratched a woman’s face during a heated domestic dispute in the area of Park Avenue in Lindale on February 26.
On Sunday, Bridges was found with suspected methamphetamine.
Man wanted in Alabama arrested in Rome
A 54-year-old Rome man was arrested at his Wilkerson Road home on a felony fugitive from justice charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Carl Dean Smith was found to have an active warrant for his arrest in DeKalb County, Alabama.
A hold was placed on him.
In addition, Smith is charged with theft by deception.
Two facing meth possession charges
Two people were arrested on Riverbend Drive on drug charges over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
22-year-old Laci Nicholl Smith of Cave Spring and 23-year-old Hayden Scott Lee of Cedartown are charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Lee is additionally charged with the operation of an unregistered vehicle or a vehicle without a current license plate.
