Man charged with criminal damage to property
A homeless man is facing charges after allegedly damaging a lottery machine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Cody Allan Powers broke the bottom of the machine at the Mapco, located at 2500 Shorter Avenue.
The damage is estimated at $5,000.
Power then ran from law enforcement officers.
He is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property and misdemeanor obstruction.
Man accused of using another man’s debit/credit card
An Aragon man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Monday on a felony warrant charging him with identity fraud.
According to the warrant:
Between December 1, 2025, and January 29, 2026, 45-year-old Eric Shane Justice used a Silver Creek man’s debit/credit card information to make purchases totaling $1,951.66.
The transactions occurred online at locations within the Floyd, Gordon, and Polk County jurisdictions.
Justice is also being held on a probation violation.
New York man charged with identity theft
A man from The Bronx, New York, is accused of using a fake driver’s license to get money.
According to the arrest warrant:
53-year-old Michael Robert Bryant Jr. used the fake ID with a Rome man’s identifying information on it to make a cash withdrawal at United Community Bank in Adairsville back on September 17.
Bryant is charged with identity theft and fugitive from justice.
He is also being held for authorities in New Jersey, where he is wanted on an outstanding warrant.
