Rome’s Fire Department celebrated 50 years of fire safety and prevention education on Saturday wiht a 70’s themed celebration.
Rome’s fire department was the first fire and life safety education program in Georgia, started 50 years ago in 1976. In celebration, the event took itself back to 1976. With costumes, events, and a showcase of a Volkswagen bus.
The event had games, music, dance teams, nostalgia, prizes, vendors, and more to do at the Forum River Center.
To this day the Rome Fire Department still utilizes its Fire Prevention Division to better inform the community as it works to advance and modernize proactive fire safety initiatives, fire inspections, and fire investigations for all Rome and Floyd County residents.
The celebration at the forum comes not only as a celebration of proactive work against fires, but as a recognition of the legacy Rome has made throughout Georgia.
