Man arrested in alleged road rage incident
A Cartersville man has been charged in an alleged assault that occurred in Floyd County.
According to the arrest warrant:
35-year-old Michael Ellis Oliver shot at another man during a road rage incident at Shorter Avenue and Burnett Ferry Road on May 31.
The round traveled through the passenger side window and struck the dash of the victim’s vehicle.
Oliver is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Man accused of assaulting a woman in front of a minor
A Rome man was arrested at his Addington Drive home on charges of aggravated assault and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
32-year-old Benjamin Lee Corbin punched a woman in the chest and then threw a broken object at her.
He then broke the windshield and ripped the driver’s side door panel from the victim’s vehicle.
The incident was witnessed by a juvenile.
Corbin is also charged with simple battery and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
Man arrested for role in gang event
A Dallas, Georgia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on charges of participation in criminal street gang activity and simple battery.
According to the arrest warrants:
25-year-old Keathin Nicah Dejuan Willis participated in a gang event on Moran Lake Road on May 24.
Willis is the latest individual to be charged.
Authorities have already arrested at least seven others in connection with the “beat-in.”
Woman found with Xanax during traffic stop
A 68-year-old woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop on John Maddox Drive and the loop.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by Debra Jean Scott was stopped for failing to maintain a lane.
She was then found with suspected Xanax in the wrong container and several straws with suspected drug residue.
Scott is charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.
