Georgia gas prices are coming down–although a little more slowly than many would like– following the suspension of the state’s gas tax.
Governor Brian Kemp signed the order suspending the excise tax on motor fuel on Monday, with it taking effect at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday.
The current tax is 33.3 cents per gallon for gasoline and 37.3 cents per gallon for diesel.
On Wednesday morning, the state average was $4.04 a gallon, down from $4.19 on Monday.
The national average was $4.43 per gallon.
According to AAA, the average in Floyd and Bartow Counties was $3.99 on Wednesday.
It was $4.03 in Chattooga County, $4.05 in Gordon County, and $4.07 in Polk County.
