The Rome Police Department has identified the pedestrian who died following this morning’s crash on Shorter Avenue as Sandra Lee Fincher, 70, of Rome.
At the request of the Floyd County Coroner’s Office, we are asking for assistance in locating Ms. Fincher’s next of kin.

The crash occurred just before 7:00 a.m. today, September 22, in the 1900 block of Shorter Avenue and involved a white passenger car and Ms. Fincher, who was a pedestrian.
The crash remains under investigation by the Rome Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team.

The Rome Police Department is investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred just before 7:00 a.m. in the 1900 block of Shorter Avenue in Rome.
The crash involved one vehicle, a white passenger car, and one pedestrian, an adult female.
The pedestrian, whose identity is not being released at this time, was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
The Rome Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team and Traffic Unit will be on scene as the crash investigation continues.
Motorists should expect periodic traffic delays in the area until investigators have completed their work.
