The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office welcomes back Deputy Corey Bowers and K9 Doc, as well as Sheriff’s Posse member Alisha Cline and K9 Newton, after a successful week of training at the Florida Public Safety Institute’s annual Bloodhound Scent Tracking Seminar in Tallahassee, Florida.
Throughout the intensive week-long program, Deputy Bowers with K9 Doc and Posse Member Cline with K9 Newton trained day and night across challenging terrains. The seminar simulated critical field scenarios designed to sharpen their skills in locating missing persons and tracking fugitives.
Following rigorous testing, Deputy Bowers and K9 Doc officially earned their scent discrimination tracking certification from the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).
By completing this course, Deputy Bowers continued a proud agency tradition. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has maintained an unbroken presence at this seminar since 2013, a legacy established and kept for over a decade by Deputy Mike Williams, who recently passed away.
This advanced training ensures our K9 teams remain highly prepared to protect and serve the citizens of Floyd County.
