The Rome City Commission has approved a resolution regarding the Burwell Creek Area Plan.
The plan has been prepared to document existing conditions, identify community assets and opportunities, and coordinate ongoing public investments within the Burwell Creek area.
It also incorporates goals and strategies drawn from previously adopted City and regional planning documents, each of which was developed through robust public engagement and formally approved by local officials.
“It really tries to capture all of the improvements and the things that we are doing in the North Rome area,” said Rome City Manager Sammy Rich. “Investments have already been secured, such as the Burwell Creek sewer project. That is a big area for improvement, and that’s going to do a lot for our community. As we know, there is the potential for new residential housing units that will specifically go to not only provide for more housing opportunities, but it will also be a new investment for this particular region. ”
The planning process for the Burwell Creek Area Plan included outreach to residents and stakeholders through a community meeting, a survey, and consultations with City departments and partner agencies.
Approval of the plan is seen as a resource to support understanding of neighborhood conditions and ongoing public investments in the Burwell Creek area.
