A 21-year-old North Rome resident has been jailed on charges of attempted rape, 1st-degree burglary, and being a peeping Tom.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
On August 6, John Derrick Turner III entered a residence on Roseway Circle, where he entered the bedroom of a 14-year-old and shut the door.
He was in the room for about seven minutes before the child was awakened by Turner lifting her blanket and shining a light on her body.
Turner left the scene when the victim screamed, but he later sent a text message indicating that he would return to rape the victim.
