-Rome Police Department-
A man wanted in connection with the October 2025 shooting death of 18-year-old Adam Taylor Hernandez in Rome has been taken into custody in North Carolina.
Treveonsay Trejion Burge, 23, was apprehended in Cleveland County, North Carolina, and is currently being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center in Shelby.
Burge was wanted on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault stemming from the October 21, 2025, shooting death of Hernandez. In addition to the charges pending in Georgia, Cleveland County detention records list Burge on charges of fugitive of the state/extradition, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, trafficking opium or heroin, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and resisting a public officer. He is currently being held without bond.
The Rome Police Department would like to thank the investigators and law enforcement partners whose continued efforts led to Burge’s apprehension, including the US Marshal’s Service, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, and the Shelby (NC) Police Department.
Burge will face the judicial process on the charges against him. Additional information regarding extradition and his return to Georgia will be released when appropriate.
All charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
