Floyd County has completed its third rubber asphalt resurfacing project.
“Turner Road was recently paved using recycled tire material, thanks to a $182,150 grant through the EPD that covered the tire-derived product, equipment and paving cost,” said Floyd County Commissioner Scotty Hancock. “Floyd County completed the road work and the project was awarded to local contractor Blount Construction.”
The first project was a half-mile pilot on Terhune Road that enabled the county to test the rubber-modified asphalt.
The second project, which was on Rush Chapel Road, was also supported by SPLOST funds and included traffic safety improvements.
Floyd County was recently recognized with a 2026 Georgia County Excellence Award for its Rubber-Modified Asphalt Initiative.
