Goodwill of North Georgia hosted its annual Back to School Bash this Tuesday. With families lining up outside the Rome-Floyd YMCA.
The event featured many different businesses and organizations in the Rome-Floyd area, all of which brought different school supplies for students to use in the upcoming school year. Backpacks, pencils, binders, folders, the works. All free for the students at the event.
Last year saw this same event being hosted at the Braves Stadium in Rome, with over 800 attendees last year, the businesses at the event came prepared. Though, this event wasn’t just for students. Goodwill also hosted their mobile career center, a bus fitted with all the tools needed to help get someone into the workforce.
This event featured many different sponsors. Both local and national. Adventhealth, Amerigroup RealSolutions, Georgia DFCS, the local Sheriff’s Office, Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries, the YMCA, and more local employers and nonprofit organizations.
“For those who might be going through a little bit of trouble right now we want to make sure that we provide the resources and the tools for a successful school year while also providing citizens of Rome the opportunity to meet with employers who are hiring on-site today.”
