Rome’s celebration of Pride month started on Friday evening with a kick-off party and carried on to Saturday, where members of the LGBTQ community lined up in front of Rome City Hall in support of one another. The parade was followed up by a large celebration at Ridge Ferry Park where an estimated 2000-2500 guests celebrated pride with music, food, and community.
The event at Ridge Ferry Park featured rows of vendors, with everything from food trucks and local artists to pride organizations and local churches. The event was created by the board of the Rome Pride Organization as a place where members of the LGBTQ community can celebrate each other and feel safe doing so.
Following the events on Saturday, Sunday morning a pride-focused church service will be held at Rome First United Methodist Church.
