Man charged with meth possession
A Taylorsville man is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, DUI, and other traffic-related offenses.
According to an arrest warrant and jail records:
44-year-old Joseph William Taylor was found with suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Highway 53 at Pierce Hill Road back on May 10.
He was initially stopped for failing to maintain his lane, and he was holding his cell phone.
Taylor was transferred from Gordon County to Floyd County on Monday to face the local charges.
Man facing a felony shoplifting charge
An Adairsville man is facing a felony charge following a shoplifting incident that occurred on May 2.
According to the arrest warrant:
28-year-old Jacob Thomas Smith took $519.98 in merchandise from Ollie’s on Shorter Avenue in West Rome and left the store without paying.
According to jail records, Smith was initially arrested on May 9 on three probation violation warrants.
Woman charged with theft by taking
A Garden Lakes woman is accused of using money she stole to play gambling machines.
According to an arrest warrant:
45-year-old Crystal Diane Carter took $802 in cash from behind the counter at the Garden Lakes Mini Mart and put it into four different COAM machines inside the store.
Carter is charged with theft by taking.
