Police in South Carolina have released new photos and details in their hunt for a woman who vanished last week.
Elena Katherine Moore, 39, has not been seen since she left a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, a suburb west of Columbia, on Thursday evening, according to the Lexington Police Department.
Authorities said Moore signed in at Planet Fitness around 6:40 p.m. and was later seen walking away from the facility toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement store.
Police said Tuesday afternoon that newly obtained video shows Moore walking through the Publix parking lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road on Thursday. Video shows her walking toward Old Cherokee Road at 9:17 p.m., police said, wearing the same olive-green zip-up hoodie with black athletic pants that she was seen wearing as she left Planet Fitness.
She was reported missing the following day.
Police said they are releasing new photographs of Moore to increase the likelihood that someone recognizes her and remembers encountering her in the past few days. Those newly released photographs include images that were captured on a front door camera a week before Moore’s disappearance.
Moore works as a personal trainer and her sudden absence is “very out of character,” police told ABC News.
Lauren Beasley, a friend of Moore’s, told Fox News Digital that she last spoke with the missing woman a month ago, recalling that she seemed completely normal.
“She did not say anything personal about anything she was going through. She got married last year, but she didn’t say anything about her relationship or work or anything personal,” Beasley said.
Beasley added that Moore stopped posting to social media about a month ago, which isn’t normal.
“She is very active on social media so her going radio silent for the last month is out of character,” she said.
Moore’s husband, Brannon Slice, said in a comment to a now-deleted Facebook post that his wife is “not well.”
Investigators on Friday deployed a drone and conducted a preliminary search of the area where Moore was last seen but found no sign of her.
Lexington Police Department Public Information Officer Missy Silcox told Fox News Digital that foul play isn’t suspected, and said there are no searches planned for Moore on Tuesday.
On Monday, Lexington police joined multiple local and state agencies in a more extensive search of wooded areas behind the Lowe’s store and Planet Fitness. The operation included assistance from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Department of Natural Resources and other emergency response agencies.
Police emphasized that the search was not a recovery effort but a methodical attempt to eliminate one possible location where Moore could be.
“No trace of Ms. Moore was found during the operation,” Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said in an update.
Moore is described as a White female standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an olive-green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants. Investigators said they are uncertain whether she has her cellphone.
Authorities asked anyone with information about Moore’s whereabouts to contact detectives at 803-358-7271 or Midlands Crimestoppers.
