Man accused of assaulting woman
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.
According to the warrant:
43-year-old Stevie Ronald Moody Jr. put his hands around a woman’s throat, pushing her up against a dresser, impeding her breathing and affecting her ability to talk.
The victim also sustained a bruise after Moody grabbed her right arm.
The incident occurred on May 30 on Shade Tree Lane.
Moody is also charged with a misdemeanor count of battery.
Man arrested on drug charges
A Rome man is facing drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Holly Street.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Michael Sylvester Dennis is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
He is also charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for a THC vape, and possession of drug-related objects for having a marijuana grinder.
Dennis is also being held on two felony probation violation warrants and a warrant charging him with felony failure to appear.
Warrants: Woman stole truck, jewelry
A stolen vehicle lands an East Rome woman behind bars.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Julie Evelyn Bodine took a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, valued at $1,600 back on February 4.
She also stole over $1,500 in jewelry from a residence on Old Summerville Road in March.
Bodine is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by taking, and a couple of felony probation violations.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
A Silver Creek woman was arrested during a traffic stop at Park Avenue and Dragon Drive in Lindale on Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year-old Nichole Allison Dickinson admitted to being under the influence of methamphetamine and gabapentin.
She was also found in possession of a substance she stated was meth and one gabapentin pill.
Dickinson is charged with possession of meth, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugs not in the original container, DUI, and a window tint violation.
Woman charged in attempt to smuggle drugs into prison
A Columbus woman has been arrested in an alleged scheme to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison.
According to the arrest warrants:
37-year-old Linda Kyle Carter placed more than 15 grams of methamphetamine, 14 Suboxone strips, a pound of tobacco, a vaping device, two packs of rolling papers, and a denture reline kit at a predetermined location inside the Walker Mountain Landfill on May 23.
The items were to be retrieved by an inmate who was assigned to a work detail, but prison investigators got to the contraband first.
The drop was arranged on the prison’s phone system.
Carter is charged with attempting to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.
