Man charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery
A Rome man has been arrested in an incident on May 23 at his Powell Road residence.
According to the arrest warrants:
47-year-old Billy Heath Antes got into an altercation with a woman and grabbed her by the throat, limiting her ability to breathe.
He also hit the victim, causing her to lose the use of her left eye and impacting her ability to speak.
The victim also had grab marks on her arms, injuries to her jaw, and knuckle marks on her forehead and cheek.
Antes is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Woman charged with aggravated assault
An Atlanta woman was jailed after allegedly assaulting another woman in a motel room on Martha Berry Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
24-year-old Jada Ahrielle Prothro put her hands around the victim’s neck and tried to strangle her.
She then passively resisted arrest by refusing commands as law enforcement was trying to take her into the jail.
Prothto is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated stalking, and misdemeanor obstruction.
Woman charged with criminal damage to property
A Rome woman is facing charges after she allegedly used a fire extinguisher to damage a building on Shorter Industrial Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Kayla Diane Jordan tossed the fire extinguisher through a window, causing about $2,000 in damage.
She also yelled and cursed, causing a public disturbance.
Jordan is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, DUI, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Man charged with auto theft
A stolen vehicle landed an Atlanta man in the Floyd County Jail.
According to an arrest warrant:
35-year-old Bobby Reshad Perkins took a 2020 Dodge Avenger from a location on Dodd Boulevard on May 4.
The vehicle is valued at $3,000.
Perkins is charged with felony theft by taking.
Woman arrested on meth trafficking, manufacturing charges
A Silver Creek woman has been arrested on charges of possession, possession with the intent to distribute, manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Kayla Marie Stephens was found with meth during a traffic stop.
Then, during the execution of a search warrant at her Darryl Road residence, a large quantity of methamphetamine was located, along with less than an ounce of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and drug-related objects.
Stephens is additionally charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
Man accused of selling stolen scrap metal
A Rome man is facing a felony charge of theft by deception in connection with an incident on April 21.
According to the arrest warrant:
59-year-old Todd Hugh Cornett sold scrap metal stolen from a biomedical company at a local recycling center, making a profit of $3,898.
Man charged with felony shoplifting
A Collinsville, Alabama, man is accused of stealing merchandise from the West Rome Walmart.
According to an arrest warrant:
22-year-old Edgar Guzman Rodriguez took just under $,1000 in baseball cards from the store on March 22.
He is charged with felony theft by shoplifting.
Man arrested on auto theft warrant
A Cedartown man was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
59-year-old Sean Ray Wood took a Rockmart woman’s vehicle on May 16 from a location on Turner McCall Boulevard and return it.
Multiple attempts were made by the victim to get the vehicle back.
The vehicle is valued at $6,000.
Man arrested during road check
A road check on Calhoun Avenue near North Avenue netted the arrest of a 37-year-old Rome man on charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, DUI and open container.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Alvin Demarcus Garrett was under suspicion of driving under the influence.
Then over an ounce of marijuana in more than one baggie and an open container of alcohol were located.
Teen accused of possessing stolen firearm
A Rome man was arrested at his Leisure Drive home on a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Isaiah Eugene Cordle was in possession of a stolen firearm that another teenager had given to him.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
A West Rome man initially arrested for DUI and other traffic violations is accused of possessing a THC vape pen round.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Yovani Roberto Lucas-Ramirez had the contraband in his pocket.
He was initially stopped on Addington Drive at Redmond Circle for traveling at more than 20 miles an hour over the speed limit.
He is also charged with possession of drugs past the guard line, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, speeding, open container, a tag light violation, and an obscured tag.
Man facing drug charges
What began as a traffic stop for no insurance on Maple Avenue at Flannery Street ended with the arrest of an East Rome man on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
55-year-old George Arnold Vela was found with methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and a digital scale.
He is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
Two arrested on drug charges
Two men were arrested on Maple at East Ninth on felony charges of possession of synthetic marijuana.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
48-year-old Robert Carl Smith and 50-year-old Ronald Lee Smith Jr., both of a Darryl Road address in Silver Creek, were found with synthetic marijuana cigarettes following a K9 indication.
Both are charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and a probation violation.
Ronald Lee Smith Jr. is additionally charged with failing to maintain a lane.
Man charged with meth possession
A homeless man is facing drug charges following his arrest on Maple at East 12th.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
47-year-old Kenneth Shane Hazelrig was in possession of methamphetamine, a straw, and a blunt.
He is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
