Man charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates
A Jonesboro man is accused of possessing cocaine while an inmate at the Floyd County Prison on April 17.
According to the warrant:
29-year-old Giang T Nguyen was found with just over a gram of a white, powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine.
Nguyen is charged with felony counts of possession of items prohibited for inmates and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Two arrested following school fight
Two 17-year-olds are facing misdemeanor charges following a fight at the Floyd County College and Career Academy on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Heaven Leigh Dawson got into an altercation with Tamya Zakia Washington on the bus.
As Washington was being restrained by a school system employee, Dawson threw a Sprite bottle at her.
Dawson continued to resist the school system employee, who ended up with injuries to his arms.
Dawson and Washington are charged with affray, disruption of a public school, and simple battery.
Dawson is additionally charged with simple battery against a school system employee.
