It will be a big weekend in Downtown Rome, with plenty to do on Saturday.
The RoFlo Festival will feature art, music, and food.
“They are closing down a couple of blocks on Broad Street, and they will have live music going on throughout the day,” said Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “It’ll start around 10 a.m., and it ends at around 4. It’s an opportunity to shop at all of the businesses and go to the restaurants. They will have sidewalk sales. They will be kind of spilling out into the sidewalks and into the streets on a couple of blocks. Throughout Broad Street and downtown, it will be very festive and a good opportunity to enjoy the great weather and support our local businesses.”
Also, Saturday, World Tai Chi Day will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Rotary Plaza behind the Forum.
“It is a great opportunity to see what Tai Chi is all about,” Kent said. “Maybe you’ve heard about it, but don’t know what it is. It’s great for strengthening your bones, helping to prevent falls, and it’s good for your joints. We have several Tai Chi instructors in the area, and we have a special exhibition going on for World Tai Chi Day.”
Also on Saturday, the Rome-Floyd ECO Center will host an open house with live wildlife exhibits from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“They are always open on the fourth Saturday of the month during most months of the year, so this is your Saturday to go check out the live animal exhibits and learn about the local ecology,” Kent said. “Of course, it’s free admission.”
Also, the TRED Walk & Talk, focusing on health and safety, will start at 9 AM at the Mount Berry Trailhead.
