-Staff reports-
A date has been set for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of the new Rome Middle School.
The ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the campus located at 200 Three Rivers Drive, which is across Veterans Memorial Highway from the current middle school.
Officials broke ground on the facility in December 2023.
It will house approximately 1,900 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students beginning this coming fall.
The $108 million facility is being funded with bonds approved by the Rome City Commission, which will be paid back using education special-purpose, local option sales tax revenues.
