Woman charged with theft, criminal trespass
A Rome woman has been arrested on a felony count of theft by taking (criminal attempt) and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Tonya Reshelle Green helped an unknown man back up to a trailer on someone else’s property.
The trailer the man intended to steal is valued at $2,968.
The incident was caught on video.
Green is also charged with criminal trespass for entering property on Mays Bridge Road and getting the vehicle stuck in the mud, leaving ruts.
Man accused of taking money to construct an outbuilding, never completing the work
A West Rome man has been arrested on charges of exploitation of the elderly and conversion of payments for real property improvements.
According to an arrest warrant:
38-year-old Kevin Clark Buchanan was hired to build a 12×10 storage building behind the 82-year-old victim’s home on Pineway Drive in Rome.
Buchanan was paid $2,500 to initiate the project, and some work was done.
He then received another $1,800 for additional materials and labor costs, but he never returned to complete the project.
Buchanan is also charged with a misdemeanor count of obstruction of law enforcement for refusing to come to the door when law enforcement showed up at his Smith Road residence.
