-Staff reports-

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will have a Special Called meeting on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Community Room, Suite 206 of the County Administration building located at 12 East 4th Avenue, Rome.
The purpose of the special-called meeting is to consider the approval of expenses and proposal to contract the stabilization of the Historic Courthouse, pending legal review, and consider a request to approve emergency allocation for temporary relocation of Historic Courthouse operations.
The meeting is open to the public.
The 134-year-old structure was heavily damaged in a fire on March 23.
There are some cracks on a portion of the Tribune Street side of the bell tower where it joins the main building.
The structural engineer has recommended that until the stabilization process is complete, all streets and businesses within the belltower’s potential collapse radius should remain closed and unoccupied.
That means Fifth Avenue and Tribune Street will remain closed for several more weeks.
In the short term, the work that needs to be done includes shoring up the tower, removing loose brick, metal copings and damaged brick gables and shoring up many of the second-floor windows.
