The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds landed at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport on Tuesday, ahead of this weekend’s Wings Over North Georgia air show.
The 2026 Wings Over North Georgia Air Show will feature the Thunderbirds in addition to a number of the top civilian performers in the world on April 3-4, 2026.
The 2026 air show will feature a Friday afternoon and evening performance by the Thunderbirds, followed by twilight and night air show performances. The evening will end with a drone show and fireworks finale. The air show will continue Saturday with daytime aviation demonstrations, and the Thunderbirds will perform as the final act of the day.
Schedule:
FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2026 – AFTERNOON/EVENING AIR SHOW
- 1300 Parking Lots Open
- 1400-1800 Check-in at media center – FBO at Russell Regional Airport
- 1515 Opening Ceremonies
- 1620 Thunderbirds Ground Ceremonies Begin
- 1640 Thunderbirds Perform
- 1800-2130 Twilight/Night Show, Drone Show, Fireworks
- Check-in at the media center at Russell Regional Airport – parking near FBO.
- Wings Over North Georgia Afternoon/Evening Air Show.
- Media planning to attend either day must request access in advance.
- Media attending will have full access to the spectator area and limited access to designated areas.
- Media may be escorted to restricted areas to facilitate any advance requests for interviews, photos, and video opportunities.
SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2026 – DAYTIME AIR SHOW
- 0800 Parking Lots Open
- 1100 Check-in at media center – FBO at Russell Regional Airport
- 1200 Opening Ceremonies/Aerial Performances
- 1600 U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Perform
- Check-in at the media center at Russell Regional Airport – parking near FBO.
- Wings Over North Georgia Afternoon/Evening Air Show.
- Media planning to attend either day must request access in advance.
- Media attending will have full access to the spectator area and limited access to designated areas.
- Media may be escorted to restricted areas to facilitate any advance requests for interviews, photos, and video opportunities.
Performers: There will be military demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the F-15 Bayou Militia, and the “Chuters” Skydiving Team. World-class civilian performers include Redline Air Shows, Fox Jet Sailplane, GhostWriter Airshows Super Chipmunk, Kyle Fowler Long EZ, Buck Roetman’s Yak, Jive Kerby’s T-28 Mad Dog, Scott Yoak’s P-51 Mustang, Jim Tobul’s F-4U Corsair, and the Jet Car Show.
Show Details:
- Tickets for the Air Show are ADVANCE PURCHASE only and will not be sold on show days. Those interested in attending the event should purchase early before tickets are sold out.
- General admission and reserved ticket options are available for the 2026 show – Herky Hill viewing and Drive-In Parking (Carload), Patio Club, Family Club Chalet, Chairman’s Club Chalet, Family Club Four-Pack
