Woman charged with aggravated assault
An Armuchee woman is accused of cutting a man at an apartment on Redmond Road on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Shakira Malesia Jett used a sharp-edged instrument to cause a cut that required 13 stitches.
The report states that Jett and the victim had lived together, and they have a child together.
Atlanta man charged with aggravated assault, child cruelty
An Atlanta man is accused of assaulting a woman at an apartment on Avenue B in Rome on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Miguel Angel Bogarin took a woman’s shoe off her foot and then used it to hit her in the face, while holding her down on a bed.
He pushed the woman into a door, causing an injury to her forehead, and took two cell phones.
Bogarin is also accused of grabbing a child by the arm, causing an injury.
He then left the scene.
When police caught up with him, it was discovered that his license was suspended.
Bogarin is charged with aggravated assault, 1st-degree cruelty to children, felony theft by taking, battery, and driving with a suspended license.
Jett is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Texas man accused of altering a Certificate of Liability
A man from Houston, Texas, was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Sunday and charged with insurance fraud.
According to the arrest warrant:
A Rome insurance company was contacted by EC Prop Rentals in North Hollywood, California, who was trying to verify a Certificate of Liability Insurance presented by 43-year-old Bradford Lee McWhorter II, doing business as Atlanta Audio and Visual.
There were a number of inconsistencies on the COI document that certified that it had been altered.
The owner of EC Prop Rentals had contacted the insurance company regarding the COI that McWhorter had sent in an email on November 14, 2023, and was attempting to find out the deductible amount for their property to be covered.
They were informed that the COI was not valid.
McWhorter then sent a second COI from a different insurance company, and EC Prop Rentals notified McWhorter that they would not be renting to him.
Woman charged with fentanyl possession
A 62-year-old Sherwood Forest woman was arrested early Monday on a felony count of possession of fentanyl.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Regina Lynn Clementi was found with fentanyl in her pants pocket at a location on Turner McCall Boulevard.
