The Floyd County Property Tax Office will be fully functional today at the former joint law enforcement center at 5 Government Plaza, directly across the street from the historic courthouse.
However, they still cannot process tag or title functions yet.
But they will be answering phones and assisting anyone.
Floyd County Tax Commissioner Kevin Payne recently shared some photos showing the interior damage sustained in Monday’s fire at the Historic Floyd County Courthouse
Payne said they were able to recover all of the cash drawers and all money in the safe, plus many other items, including most of the artwork, which will hopefully be salvaged.
Payne added that the photos are of the damage on the first and second floors.
The third floor no longer exists.
