Search warrant leads to drug, weapons arrest
An Aragon man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
According to an arrest warrant and other jail records:
66-year-old Glenn Lewis Shell Jr. was found with methamphetamine during the execution of a search warrant at his Wax Road home back on February 12.
Two firearms, one of which had a barrel length of 16-inches were also seized, along with 14 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, and digital scales.
Gabapentin pills with someone else’s name were also located.
Shell is additionally charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drugs not in the original container.
Man accused of stealing from an elderly person
A Rockmart man is accused of burglarizing a Floyd County residence while the homeowner was out of state.
According to the arrest warrants:
45-year-old John Andrew Becknell took various items, valued at a combined $2,037, from the home on Peasant Run between November 14 and December 15.
He is also accused of cheating the 79-year-old homeowner out of money by taking $3,300 in advance for handyman work around the house, and then failing to fulfill the agreement.
Becknell is charged with 1st-degree burglary, exploitation or intimidation of the elderly, and felony theft by taking.
Drug bust in West Rome
A West Rome man is facing charges following the execution of a search warrant at his home on Old Airport Road back on February 4.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Marvin Harold Oglesby was found with marijuana, wrapping papers, a hydrocodone pill, and a firearm.
Oglesby is also charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.
Summerville man arrested on Martha Berry Highway
A Summerville man is facing charges following a traffic stop on Martha Berry Highway over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
60-year-old Stevie Wayne Lingerfelt allowed another person to drive while unlicensed.
Loose tramadol pills and open containers of alcohol were located inside the vehicle.
Lingerfelt is charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, open container, and permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
Fugitive arrested in Silver Creek
A traffic stop on Highway 101 at Preacher Smith Road ended with the arrest of a Warren, Ohio, man on a felony fugitive from justice charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Kevin James Baritell was stopped for driving without his lights on.
He then admitted that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest in Ohio.
Bartitell is also charged with a seatbelt violation, a headlight violation, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
