In-person early voting for the March 10 Special Election for the 14th District in the US House of Representatives continues with another round of weekend voting.
Floyd County voters can cast ballots on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 until 5 at the elections office on East 12th Street.
There are 22 candidates on the ballot:
They are Republicans Colton Moore, Clay Fuller, Trey Kelley, Brian Stover, Beau Brown, Eric Cunningham, Meghan Strickland, Reagan Box, Star Black, Marty Brown, Jenna Turnipseed, Jim Tully, Nicky Lama, and Tom Gray
Although their names still appear on the ballot, Jared Craig and Christian Hurd have both dropped out of the race and have endorsed Clay Fuller. Larry Hilley has also dropped out of the race.
There are also three Democrats—Shawn Harris, Jim Davis, and Jonathan Hobbs; one Libertarian—Andrew Underwood, and one independent—Bob “Rush” Ruszkowski.
In addition to the congressional race, voters in Northern Floyd County, mostly the Armuchee area, are deciding who will be elected to fill a vacant seat in the Georgia State Senate.
The 53rd District seat was left vacant when Colton Moore stepped down to run for Congress.
The candidates include three Republicans–Blake Elsberry, Denise Pierce Burns, and Lanny Thomas, along with one Democrat–John Bentley (Jack) Zibluk.
As of Thursday morning, 4,370 ballots had been cast in Floyd County, and 29,219 across the district, which also includes Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Murray, Paulding, Polk, Walker, Whitfield, and a portion of Cobb County.
Floyd County has 62,659 active voters.
