Man accused of transporting illegal substances from Michigan to Georgia
A Silver Creek man was arrested at his Old Rockmart Road home on Tuesday on a felony drug trafficking charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
46-year-old Jeremiah Lemont Hicks purchased over $300 in edibles, vapes, and plant materials in Monroe, Michigan, and then transported the items back to Georgia.
He was found with the products along with the receipts with his name on them.
Hicks was also found with more than an ounce of marijuana.
He is also charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana.
Warrant: Woman threatened her sister
A Rome woman has been charged with a felony count of terroristic threats and acts.
According to the arrest warrant:
27-year old Jacqueline Stephanie Ramirez Mayen threatened her sister on February 18.
The threat was witnessed by other family members.
Mayen told the family members that they had better watch their girl because she was going to come back and kill her in her sleep.
Man accused of throwing rock through business window
A homeless man is accused of causing damage at a business on Shorter Avenue.
According to an arrest warrant:
39-year-old Michael Alamia was seen on video footage throwing a rock through a double-pane window at Rome Auto Service on Shorter Avenue on February 22.
The shattered window had an estimated repair cost of $2,000.
Alamia is charged with a felony count of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
Tennesee man accused of stealing truck
A man from Tracy, Tennessee has been returned to Floyd County on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
45-year-old Curtis Wayne Gill took a woman’s Chevy Silverado from her property on New York Avenue in Floyd County back in September of 2024.
The pickup was loaded on a vehicle trailer and towed back to Tennessee, where it was found months later.
The license plate attached to it came back to Gill out of Michigan.
Man charged with meth possession
A homeless man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest on Maryland Drive in West Rome on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
55-year-old Clifford Jay Vaughn III had a white, crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
He is charged with possession of meth.
