Additional information has been released regarding a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a train off of Second Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Rome Police Department report:
The train engineer told officers that as he rounded the turn, he saw a woman walking in the middle of the tracks.
He hit the horn, but the woman did not react.
The engineer applied the emergency brakes while continuing with the horn in an attempt to prevent the collision.
The woman’s body was located at the underpass, on Norfolk Southern property, under the Turner McCall Bridge on the south side of the tracks.
She has been identified as 43-year-old Jennifer Davis.
Her body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab.
