Georgia drivers are getting some welcome relief at the pump this week. The state average has dipped to $2.69 a gallon, down from last week, with day‑to‑day price swings still possible.
“Georgians are getting a welcome break at the pump as prices ease,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “Rising gasoline supplies and lighter seasonal demand are working in drivers’ favor. And with the switch to higher priced summer‑blend fuel still ahead, these lower than usual February prices are giving drivers a bit of extra breathing room.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 3 cents lower than last week
- Same as a month ago
- 30 cents lower than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $40.35.
Local averages on Monday were $2.63 in Floyd County, $2.60 in Bartow and Chattooga Counties, $2.68 in Polk County, and $2.69 in Gordon County.
Nationally: Fuel Costs Keep a Steady Beat
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline held steady this week, inching up just one centto $2.93.Pump prices are expected to begin their usual seasonal rise soon, with spring approaching and refineries shifting to more expensive summer‑blend gasoline. Ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran could also push crude oil prices higher, which would likely translate into higher gas prices. For now, though, prices remain the lowest they’ve been at this time of year since 2021.
