Floyd County Schools (FCS) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Ian Crawley as the new Floyd County Transitional Academy (TA) Administrator.
Mr. Crawley brings more than three decades of experience in education, having begun his career at St. Catherine’s Academy in Mount Carmel, Newfoundland, Canada. From there, he moved to Georgia and continued his teaching career, serving twelve years at Tift County High School and fifteen years at Model High School.
He recently transitioned into school leadership and currently serves as Assistant Principal at Coosa High School, where he has been instrumental in supporting students, staff, and families.
Throughout his career, Mr. Crawley has taught a wide range of courses, coached multiple sports, and embraced every opportunity to impact students. His dedication to excellence earned him numerous honors, including Teacher of the Year, Coach of the Year, and STAR Teacher recognitions at both the school and system levels.
Mr. Crawley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economic Geography and English Literature and a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and Educational Psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also earned a Master of Arts in Education (Curriculum and Technology) and a Specialist in Education degree in Educational Leadership from Berry College.
“I am excited about this opportunity,” said Mr. Crawley. “I have always had a special interest in alternative education and look forward to the challenge of building relationships with a new collection of staff, students, and families from all over Floyd County.”
Originally from Holyrood, Newfoundland, Mr. Crawley moved to Tifton, Georgia, in 1996 and relocated to Rome in 2008, where he has continued to serve students and the community with dedication. He and his wife, Jennifer, are proud parents of four grown children and grandparents to several grandchildren.
FCS looks forward to the leadership, experience, and passion Mr. Crawley will bring to the Transitional Academy as he begins this new chapter of service to students across the district.
