Man charged with battery, child cruelty
A Summerville Park man was arrested at his Walton Way home early Monday on charges of 1st-degree cruelty to children, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, battery, and simple battery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Marcus Anthony Pinson struck a 34-year-old woman in the eye, leaving visible bruising.
He also struck a juvenile male several times in the presence of a juvenile female.
One of the juveniles was hit when they tried to separate Pinson and the woman.
Woman accused of kicking police officer
A woman from Fleming Island, Florida, is facing charges after allegedly resisting arrest on Broad Street at East Second Avenue early Monday morning.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
52-year-old Tiffany Lynn Smith was in a parking lot with “barf” all over her and was unable to carry on a proper conversation.
She then resisted getting inside the patrol vehicle and kicked a police officer in the chest.
Smith is charged with felony and misdemeanor obstruction, simple battery against a law enforcement officer, and public drunk.
Woman charged with false imprisonment
A West Rome woman was arrested at her Elizabeth Street home over the weekend on charges of false imprisonment and simple battery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
57-year-old Wendy Anissa Smith kicked in a bedroom door and punched a female in the face.
She then chased the victim into the bathroom and would not let her out while continuing to punch her.
Man charged with theft by receiving
A South Rome teen is facing felony and misdemeanor charges of theft by receiving stolen property following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Allen Ryan Toland was in possession of two stolen vehicles—a 2013 Nissan Altima, valued at $6,000 and a 2015 Chrysler 250, also valued at $6,000.
Toland was found loitering at the dead end of Jefferson Drive, before running from police and attempting to hide.
He is also charged with loitering or prowling and three counts of misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
Man charged with financial transaction card fraud
An Armuchee man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with financial transaction card fraud.
According to the warrant:
45-year-old James Richard Guice authorized another person to withdraw money from an ATM and then reported to the financial institution that the other person did not have permission to make the withdrawal.
The credit union then credited $600 to Guice’s account based on the false information.
Additional charges for woman arrested in drug bust
A woman initially arrested on February 12 on drug charges during the execution of a search warrant at her home on Wax Road in Aragon is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
64-year-old Anita Darlene Bone was in possession of two firearms, one of which had a barrel length of 16 inches.
14 grams of marijuana with packaging materials and gabapentin pills were also recovered.
Bone is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drugs not in the original container.
Report: man caught with alprazolam
A Rome man is facing a felony count of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance following his arrest on Saturday at East Second Avenue and Riverbend Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year-old Cody Ray Garrison was found with blue, oval pills suspected to be alprazolam, which is the generic form of Xanax.
