The Rome City and Floyd County Commission will hold a joint recreation meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at noon at the Charles C. Parker Center at Etowah Park.
At 12:30, commissioners and members of the public who want to attend will depart for a tour of the local recreational facilities, according to Floyd County Commission Chair Rhonda Wallace.
“We feel strongly that this will help each of us know where the parks are, what’s going on with the parks, and also give us some time to discuss that with each of our commissioners,” she said.
Recreation was also the main topic of discussion at a recent joint services committee meeting.
“We’re planning to start meeting each month, with our next meeting being in March,” Wallace Said. We had a discussion about the agreement, making sure that all the parks that we have in our community are on the list, and what changes we have seen and what amenities have been added, and what part of those parts would be funded and maintained by the county.”
Wallace said they want to make sure that in years down the road, when the current commissioners are gone, that the recreation agreement will be right for the next commission going forward.
