The City of Rome will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday.
The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. at North Stars Park on North Broad Street, according to Hannah Bagley with Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful.
“We have got some really cool trees installed in the ground already,” she said. “It’s at 1 o’clock, so come stretch your legs after lunch, and enjoy celebrating our men and women that out all of their efforts into the green infrastructure here in Rome.”
FREE seedlings and other plantable giveaways will be available for all attendees, courtesy of Georgia Power and the Georgia Forestry Commission.
The first Arbor Day was in Nebraska as a special day to plant trees.
Since then, it has grown into thousands of celebrations in communities across the United States.
