The Floyd County Commission has approved a single-season agreement for AdventHealth Stadium with Diamond Baseball Holdings, owner of the Rome Emperors.
According to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord, a lot of work has gone into the agreement over the last several months with Chris Jackson and Virginia Harman with the county attorney’s office, Facilities Manager Ryan Davis, Community Services Director Erin Elrod, Rome Emperors General Manager David Lane, and others.
Our previous agreement expired at the end of 2025,” he said. “I know Chris, Virginia, myself, Ryan, Erin, and probably others have worked diligently to get this contract ready. We’ve worked with the Diamond Baseball folks—David, John Dooley, who is here tonight, and Henry Shepherd previously—to get an agreement that is fair to both sides and get it in place for 2026.”
Jackson also commented on the new agreement.
“We do feel that this shifts some of the expenses that go along with the stadium significantly over to Diamond Baseball Holdings during this one-year agreement,” he said.
Construction of the stadium was funded with special purpose, local option sales tax funds approved by voters back in 2001.
It opened in time for the Rome Braves’ inaugural season in 2003.
In 2022, the stadium was renamed from State Mutual Stadium to AdventHealth Stadium.
A number of renovations to the stadium, funded by the 2017 SPLOST, were completed last year.
