If you are looking for entertainment this weekend, there are a variety of choices.
According to Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism, you can catch a play at the DeSoto Theatre.
“We have ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ with the Rome Little Theatre,” she said. “That is going to run through February 9 this weekend. So, check that out Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoon.”
This powerful adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling book, crafted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, invites audiences to confront the painful yet transformative moments of our lives while celebrating the beauty often found in the everyday.
Originally published online by “Sugar” from 2010 to 2012, the heartfelt questions and answers come to life in “Tiny Beautiful Things.” When a struggling writer anonymously took on the role of advice columnist, she drew from her own empathy and life experiences to support those grappling with both significant and subtle challenges. This moving play delves into themes of reaching out for help, healing from pain, and mustering the courage to face complex questions that do not always have clear answers.
Performance Schedule:
February 6-15, 2026
Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 PM
Sundays at 2:30 PM
Location: Historic DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad St GA 30161
Tickets are now available for purchase at romelittletheatre.com.
Tribute to the Doors on Friday
Meanwhile, if 60’s rock and roll is more your style, the Rome City Auditorium is the place to be on Friday.
“We have the ultimate Doors tribute,” Kent Said. “That will be a good one. We haven’t had that style of music for a little while.”
Tickets are on sale at eventbrite.com.
The Doors scored multiple Top 40 hits between 1967 and 1971, including “Light My Fire,” “Hello, I Love You,” “Riders on the Storm,” “Love Her Madly,” and more.
Lead singer Jim Morrison actually had ties to Rome.
“His grandfather was a brick maker,” Kent Said. “His grandparents are buried in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.”
An Evening with Gene Watson
Now, if you prefer Classic Country Music over Classic Rock, Gene Watson will be at the Rome City Auditorium on Saturday evening.
Watson has 34 studio albums, scored over 72 charted songs, including 23 Top Tens and 6 #1 hits over his Sixty-year career. Watson’s first single, the self- penned “If it’s That Easy,” was released on Sun Valley Records in 1962.
Tickets for Saturday’s show are available at simpletix.com.
Pro wrestling in Lindale
And finally, pro wrestling is coming to Lindale on Saturday.
“Prime Time Wrestling will be at the Gilbreath Center on February 7,” Kent Said. “It’s pro wrestling, and I don’t know much about this one, but for all you wrestling fans out there, that is something different that will be happening at the Gilbreath Center in Lindale.”
Prime Time Wrestling at the Gilbreath Center is on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month.
